This week our @praguescouts had such a relaxed Squirrels session as they worked towards their Feel Good badge. The Squirrels took things nice and easy — they built the cosiest pillow fort, spent some calming time colouring mandalas, and made a beautiful yarn craft to take home. 🧱 Explorer Scouts Construction Chaos! 🏗️ This week our @praguescouts Explorers swapped tents for toolkits (and plenty of marshmallows 🍡) as they tackled a series of construction challenges! From building the tallest marshmallow towers (and testing their snack resistance 😋), to designing bridges to span mighty “rivers,” and even attempting the legendary Da Vinci Bridge – there was no shortage of creativity, chaos, or laughter. Let’s just say… some structures were architectural masterpieces 🏰, others were more… “abstract art” 🎨. But all were built with teamwork, determination, and a healthy dose of fun! Inspired by 16th World Scout Moot Portugal 2025 our 1st Djursholm Scouts last night got a taste of Portuguese tradition with a combination of two stick-fighting arts that had everyone concentrating hard! 🇵🇹 The Scouts learned the basics of Jogo do Pau (game of the stick) and Fandango do Pau in pairs, working on their timing and precision before facing off in a rhythmic duel that was part martial arts, part performance, and all incredibly satisfying fun. Our performance as a whole group perhaps needs a little more practice (as could the Leader’s timing counting!) but it made for some very amusing mistakes along the way! With GibJam all finished an opportunity to explore Gibraltar. It was great spending the day with 1st Tenerife as they explored the tunnels deep into the Rock of Gibraltar.

Earlier this month, the 1st Singapore Scouts and Explorers travelled to Indonesia for an international service project. Together, they dug and laid the drainage for a toilet system, built a safe water garden, and donated both a water tower and a water filter to a rural family. Although modest in scale, this project will make a lasting difference — helping to reduce the shocking statistic that 370 children in Indonesia die every day from inadequate sanitation. They also had plenty of fun with sea swimming, boom nets, coconut tree climbing, and a campfire under the stars. This was the very first international trip organised by the leaders — and we hope it will be the first of many more to come!

Many congratulations to Nathanael, who achieved his King's Scout Award a week before his 17th birthday. The King's Scout Award is the highest award for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members. Congratulations as well to Miles on his Chief Scout's Platinum Award. Earlier this month @southern_europe_bso took part in an awesome adventure at @speiderneslandsleir Everyone had an amazing time joining in Nordic Scouting with activities including building a huge three storey flagpole, open fires that were almost as big and hiking around the stunning scenery. Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders from Fuengirola, Madrid, Majadahonda and Toulouse took part in this great Scouting adventure. A huge well done to our team from Paris Explorers who have successfully completed Dragnet 2025 in the English Lake District. Congratulations to Edward, Tilly, Daniel and Mattes who managed to still have one life left in the DragNet having walked 61km in 31 hours. This is the first time a BSO team has entered this national competition. The explorers said that their biggest challenge was the unpredictable Lake District weather which they described as “miserable and grim”. A huge thanks to the explorer leaders, Karen and Alan, for facilitating the event. #SkillsForLife

Tonight our lead volunteer, Graham was able to spend the evening with Toulouse and Madrid Explorers, with @2ndinverness at @speiderneslandsleir for an evening campfire.

We still have many volunteers who have not completed the new Scouts Safety learning which is a requirement for all adults. The deadline for them to complete this learning is July 14th. Please can we ask for everyone to put in a bit of time to get this sorted. If you've not done the new learning, please do so. If you've tried and can't log in or aren't sure how to, please reach out to your Team Leader. If you're not sure whether you've done the learning, go to learn.scouts.org.uk and check your Safety Due date. If you've already done it and have checked, PLEASE help us by chatting to Scouts volunteers you know regularly and check they've done theirs, helping them if you can. Let's keep this on the agenda and keep actioning it until every adult volunteer in BSO who needs to do the learning has done it. Let's keep young people safe.

Sonian Explorer Scouts and 1st Brussels (British) Scouts attended the Act of Remembrance in Evere last Saturday, organised by the Royal British Legion Brussels (RBL Brussels Branch), with our Explorers laying the wreath and reading the poem "A Soldier's Elegy", written by our Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Silver team of 2023. This year, we also have former Sonian Explorer, F, as Deputy Standard Bearer alongside C from Brussels Explorers for RBL. We also had the pleasure of meeting WW2 veteran Count Henri d’Oultremont, who served with the Piron Brigade. British Scouting Overseas, #SkillsForLife

@sonianexplorers Grand Prix weekend! Some of our Explorers participated in the Grand Prix wooden car race on Saturday organised by 1st Brussels. 2 of our Explorers won Best Design (Creative) and (Streamlined) respectively, and 1 Explorer won 3 out of the 4 categories for the Explorer Section! On Sunday, some of our Young People went on a lovely hike and had a fantastic time go-karting, an adventure they longed for and asked our Leaders to organise! #youthled #YouShape #SkillsForLife

Celebrating Squirrels Earlier this year 5th Dubai opened our first Squirrel Drey in the UAE. The Squirrels held their investiture ceremony in the park and were confident enough to make their Squirrel Scout promises individually. They had a picnic afterwards to celebrate. Even Sandy the Squirrel, 5th Dubai’s mascot, made his promise and proudly wears his necker. It was a special moment for Owl (Lucy) who was able to invest her own daughter into our Scout family.

1st Bougival Scout Group Scouts and Cubs camping in Les Rochers de Fontainebleau. Saturday morning was Bouldering with trained monitors. Sat afternoon was Gina's Bear Pit wide game. In the evening 10 older scouts set out on the first part of their Expedition Challenge. They retur Ed successfully , cooked heir dinner and put up their tents In the morning they coked breakfast and then set out on a challenging expedition through the sentence 25 bosses. 25 mini mountains. They all reached their target and returned to camp for a well earned lunch.

Summer activities are in full flow across BSO as 1st Alicante had their recent Group Activity Day. Lots of excited and happy young people from all sections of the Group enjoying various activities including kayaking, archery, quad biking and zip lining. The event finished with traditional campfire songs and yells. Group Lead Volunteer Meg was presented with her wood bead award from DLV Kenny Lee. Well done Meg.
