About the role
We’re looking for a volunteer to support learning and the development of our volunteers across the Area.
The role will focus on supporting our adult volunteers with accessing First Aid courses which meet the First Aid Course requirement in The Scouts. This will include reviewing syllabus for 3rd party led courses and providing comfort and confirmation that these courses meet our requirements and/or sign posting access to additional First Aid learning through the Hampshire model or online learning to top up learning.

Key tasks
To support adult volunteers with accessing First Aid courses which meet the First Aid Course requirement in The Scouts. This will include reviewing syllabus for 3rd party led courses and providing comfort and confirmation that these courses meet our requirements and/or sign posting access to additional First Aid learning through the Hampshire model or online learning to top up learning.
Work with District Lead Volunteers and District Volunteer Development teams to support all members in being compliant with First Aid, including the provision of online training as required.
Make sure first aid resources are up to date on the website by liaising with BSO’s Social Media and Website Teams

Person specification
Knowledge & experience
- Understanding of The Scout Association and First Aid Training requirements
- Experience of planning and running training courses
- Experience of Scouts or another youth organisation (Desirable)
- Knowledge of British Scouting Overseas (BSO)
Skills & abilities
- Good IT skills as most learning will be done online
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to create engaging training resources
- Organised
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Able to work constructively with external partners and represent BSO
Personal Qualities
- Enthusiastic & Passionate about Training
- Creative
- A good listener & approachable
- Committed to Scouts Values, inclusivity, & International engagement
- Maturity to respond to questions and challenges
