Zoë, who received her Queen's Scout Award in 2020, joined as a Beaver Scout at the age of 7 and has been involved in Scouting ever since. She is also one of the Assistant Unit Leaders in our joint BSO/British Girlguiding Overseas World Scout Jamboree Unit. As Scouts, we all promise to help other people and we are immensely proud of Zoë for flying in from Luxembourg and going above and beyond to help other people. This afternoon the BBC had an interview with UK Scouts Deputy Commissioner CJ Ledger who gave the following interview:

Last Friday, The Scouts put out a call for volunteers age 18-25 to assist with managing the lying-in-state for HM Queen Elizabeth. More than 500 members applied, including four from British Scouting Overseas (BSO). BSO Scout Network member Zoë Baxter from Telstar Scout Group in Luxembourg was successful in the selection and is now helping on the ground in London assisting with managing the massive queue of people including supporting the accessibility queue, or at Archbishop park helping with the secure bag-drop facility and also in the last part of the queue at Victoria Park Gardens just before people go through security.

The 26th World Scout Jamboree will take place in Gdansk, Poland in the summer of 2027. The UK Scout Association has a long history of sending large number of Units (36 young people, aged between 14 and 18, and four leaders divided into four patrols) as part of a UK Contingent to attend World Scout Jamborees. The units represent each of the UK’s counties and countries/regions, with unit numbers be allocated based on the numbers of young people in each area.
