British Scouting Overseas is looking for creative and technically minded volunteers to help us redesign and relaunch our website as we move from our current platform to WordPress.
British Scouting Overseas supports Scouting for young people and adult volunteers across the world. Our website is an important place for members, parents, volunteers and new families to find information, access resources and discover how to get involved. We are now redesigning the site so it is clearer, easier to update and better reflects the adventure, community and impact of Scouting overseas.
About the role
We are seeking volunteers to join the BSO Website Team and help develop our new website. These roles would suit people who enjoy practical digital projects, can work collaboratively with others, and want to use their skills to support Scouting across the globe.

Person specification
We are looking for an experienced WordPress Administrator to help build and manage the new BSO website. Working from the agreed site structure and design, you will help create the website so that it is ready for content to be added and maintained by the wider team.
- Set up and configure WordPress pages, menus and site structure.
- Support the migration from the existing platform to WordPress.
- Maintain the website, including updates, patches and general administration.
- Manage user access and permissions for website contributors.
- Monitor website performance, usage and functionality.
- Help identify and fix issues so the site remains reliable and easy to use.
Responsible to BSO Support Lead
What we are looking for
- Experience with WordPress administration, website content management, graphic design, image editing or digital communications.
- A good eye for detail and a commitment to producing clear, accessible and user-friendly online content.
- The ability to work as part of a volunteer team and communicate clearly with others.
- An interest in supporting young people, volunteers and families involved in Scouting overseas.
- A willingness to follow BSO and Scouts policies, including safeguarding, safety and data protection requirements.
Why volunteer with us?
This is a great opportunity to use your digital skills to make a real difference. By helping us develop the new BSO website, you will support thousands of young people, parents and volunteers by making information easier to find, improving our online presence and helping more people discover the adventure of Scouting.
How to express interest
If you are interested in joining the BSO Website Team, or would like an informal conversation about either role, please get in touch with the BSO Support Lead. We would be delighted to hear from volunteers who can offer technical, creative or website management experience as we prepare to launch our new website.
