Interim Area Chair (ex-offico)

BSO Chair 

Chris is an Explorer Leader in Oman as well as part of the 2027 World Conference organising teaming held in the UK.   He joined scouting as Beaver and went through to Network and a leader of local scout troop in the UK.  Chris then took a break from Scouting when he moved overseas.  He then volunteers to help with Explorers when he moved to Oman a couple years ago.

Chris’s deep understanding of the federated structure of Scouts will bring value to how we enhance our governance across BSO. His strong professional relationships across the Middle East will be of great benefit to our groups in this region where we have seen, and continue to see, strong growth.

Area Secretary

As well as being a trustee, I have been specifically appointed as the Secretary for British Scouting Overseas, to provide support to the Chair and other members of the Trustee Board. As a veteran of the Scout Movement, I’ve moved on from face-to-face work with young people but I’m happy to provide support and advice to those who are in the front line, based on my experience in the Movement and my professional background in the legal profession. Outside Scouting, I am active in the voluntary and community sector in Cheshire in north west England and in my local Quaker meeting.

Area Treasurer (ex-offico)

Treasurer since September 2025, having been away from Scouting for a number of years (and yet seem to have managed 28 years of adult service!). I’ve previously been Area Secretary for British Groups Abroad, County Secretary for Nottinghamshire and District Secretary for the City of Nottingham although my preferred adult appointment was as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader for 2nd Horsham (West Sussex). My day job is accounting but I’m also an actor where my favourite genre is horror in UK independent (ie no budget) films (because it is so much fun). I’m also company secretary for the community interest company that owns my local pub.

I'm Graham, the Lead Volunteer for BSO, reposible for leading BSO's Leadership Team.

Coupled with my opeational responsibilities witihn BSO, with the team we set the strategic direction and report back to our BSO Trustee Board.  Additionally to my responsinlities within BSO, I serve as a member of the UK Scouts International Leadership Team.

I’m Charlotte, Youth Lead for British Scouting Overseas. I’m passionate about empowering young people to play an active role in shaping their Scouting experiences. I’m especially focused on strengthening youth voice and representation across BSO, ensuring that young people are heard and involved at every level of decision-making.

As a Headteacher and British Schools Overseas Inspector, I have lived in Dubai with my family since 2012. My daughters are active members of the Scouts, just as I was at their age. I am a passionate advocate for inclusion and I am committed to supporting volunteers and young people across British Scouting Overseas to thrive, embrace adventure, and develop as lifelong learners.

I have been involved in Scouting in disparate roles for over fifty years across various countries. I started as a Scout in Malta, was a leader in the UK and ended up in Scout Active Support in Luxembourg as well as being chair of the Trustee Board there.

I have more than 25 years of governance, alongside a long and varied Scouting journey. Professionally, I am Interim Head of Internal Audit at Jersey Electricity, as well as Founder and Director of Paradigm Consulting, supporting organisations across commercial, public and non‑profit sectors to develop and strengthen their governance and assurance frameworks, across multiple jurisdictions.

I have held senior volunteer roles across Scouting in the UK and Jersey, including County Commissioner for Greater Manchester North, Chair and Deputy Commissioner of Jersey Scouts, in addition I have held support roles in the National Governance and Trustee team. I have also supported the European Region of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement, working with National Scout Organisations across the continent on organisational development. I volunteered with the Association of Jersey Charities for five years, supporting development and funding across a wide range of on island charities.  I have also been a volunteer Director and Deputy Chair of a UK Health Charity.

Passionate about enabling volunteers and ensuring young people have access to safe, high‑quality Scouting wherever they live, I am proud to support BSO’s mission and global community and and to help ensure that every volunteer feels valued and every young person has the chance to belong, grow and thrive.

Area Trustee

As a trustee, I come from a background of analysis and problem-solving within mathematics. I have a keen focus on finances, governance, compliance and risk; taking an approach rooted in strategic thinking and clear communication. My international project experience, from Belize in the Caribbean to staffing at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre, has strengthened my commitment to inclusive, impactful decision-making and reinforced my belief in the power of global collaboration.
