Programme Team Lead

I have been involved in scouting for many years, and have held several roles including Explorer Leader, Assistant County Commissioner Activities, Manager of the Permit Scheme for Lincolnshire,  and Assistant District Commissioner Activities. I have been involved in the planning and running of many overseas trips including Sweden, Denmark, Kandersteg , also Explorer Belts,  Duke of Edinburgh and Scouts of the World Awards. 

Outside of scouting I work as an Outdoor Instructor, delivering Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and residentials, multi activity residential for younger ages groups, canoe and kayak coaching and expeditions, and mountain training. 

I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing to improve and widen the programme ideas and activities that we can offer to both young people and leaders, helping them to grow and develop their skills. 

Visits Abroad Reccomender

I have been involved with Scouting since joining as a Cub Scout (England won the World Cup in that year by way of celebration) and progressed through the sections before my first adult role. Since then I have held various roles at Group, District, County Area and National Levels, including the creation of BSO in 2012. My proudest scouting moments are having taught a challenged youngster how to back-splice and seeing my two sons gain their Chief Scouts Awards.

Outside of Scouting, I "play" caxia for Bloco Do Sul, a community based samba school.

Section Support

I joined British Scouting Overseas after the closure of British Girlguiding Overseas, having been a Guide leader for over 35 years. I am passionate about giving young people the skills and opportunities to become confident, positive members of society.

I am currently enjoying being a leader with the Brussels Explorers. During my time in Girlguiding I was mainly a Guide leader but spent time as a leader in all of the other sections as well as being on the BGO Executive Committee. I have always had a close relationship to Scouting; I have run and attended multiple joint Scout/Guide camps across Europe, my three children were all members of Scouting and as a Venture Scout I achieved my Queens Scout award.

Outside of Scouting I enjoy hiking, exploring industrial heritage, cooking and crochet.

Young Leader Team Lead

I’m Reuben, I’m from Scotland and I’ve recently moved to the Netherlands to start the next chapter in my life.

Scouting has always been a massive part of my life since I was a wee cub in my local village to, becoming an explorer leader in Glasgow. I’ve been a leader now for 8 years working mostly with explorers and training young leaders. I can’t wait to help deliver YL to BSO and give the next generation of young people the skills they need to become the best leaders possible.

 I have been all over the world with scouting and now have friends all in all sorts of places. I’ve been to loads of jamborees, but my favourite will always be Blair Atholl jamborette in Scotland. Scout camp is truly my favourite place to be, and you will always find me at campfire singing at the top of my voice!

I spend almost all my free time outside on one of my many hobbies such as: skating boarding, wakeboarding, snowboarding, slacklining or climbing.
